We’re Tom and Alex, a filmmaking duo based in Portsmouth. Port of Call Media is our creative home: a boutique, hands-on production studio working with brands, artists and organisations who aren't afraid to try something different - people who want their stories told with a bit of edge and a lot of heart.
Between us, we’ve got a background in directing and post-production, and we’re always chasing that mix of style, substance, and something a bit unexpected.

I’ve been a filmmaker for ten years now – I’ve been lucky to have been given the space and opportunities to develop my craft with so many amazing collaborators and clients on meaningful projects along the way.
Alex Malcolm
Head of Post-Production
Having worked as a colourist and online editor for award winning productions on BBC, ITV and Channel 4, I am in charge of the Post-Production workflows and make sure it's all smooth sailing throughout. I have a keen eye for detail and won't settle for 'good enough', I make sure everything is the best it can be.

We believe a good story has the power to connect people. Doesn’t matter if it’s for a local project, an emerging brand or a big creative idea, if you've got something worth saying, we want to help you say it right. We work closely with you to make something sharp, thoughtful and built to last.
How We Work
Every project starts with a proper conversation. We want to understand what you're trying to achieve, who you're talking to, and what success looks like for you. Come to us with a full script, a half-formed idea, or even just a gut feeling about something you want to explore, we'll figure out the rest together.
Local Roots, National Reach
We launched in 2022 and we're genuinely proud to be part of what's happening creatively in Portsmouth right now. But our work takes us all over the UK. We've made social impact films, commercial promos, brand stories, all for clients who want that high-end production feel without the London agency headache (or price tag).
Where It All Began
We met at university and started working together pretty much straight away. Those early projects became Familiar Stranger Studios – an award-winning production company that let us take on paid work to fund our own creative projects. Everything we learned there became the foundation for what we're doing now.
