Time to Set Sail

As part of the Portsmouth100 centenary celebrations, Portsmouth City Council partnered with Wild in Art to bring a spectacular public art trail to the city. Portsmouth's streets came alive with a pride of lion sculptures, each uniquely designed by talented artists and inspired by the character, heritage and communities that make the city special. The trail offered locals and visitors alike a fun new way to explore Portsmouth, discover incredible artwork and celebrate 100 years of city status.

Commissioned by Portsmouth City Council, Port of Call Media produced a series of films documenting the Pride of Portsmouth trail from concept to completion. The collection included individual profiles of the artists and sponsors behind the sculptures, coverage of the trail's installation across the city, a film capturing the trail itself once open to the public, and a combined final film bringing the whole story together.

Filmed in studios and workshops across the South Coast, the artist films followed each sculptor as they developed their work, sharing the stories, inspirations, and personal connections to Portsmouth that shaped their designs. The sponsor films highlighted the organisations and individuals who helped bring the trail to life.

Port of Call Media created space for each artist and sponsor to reflect on the city's history, heritage and culture, and how those themes found their way into the work. Created as part of the wider marketing campaign for the Pride of Portsmouth trail, the films provide a long-term record of the project's contributions.
