A Sea of Words
Exhibition Film / 2025 / Photo & Video Production / Crying Out Loud
This film was commissioned as part of a large-scale immersive experience by acclaimed Hong Kong artists Kingsley Ng and Stephanie Cheung.
Screened throughout the installation in the recently refurbished Boathouse 5 Cinema at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, this film offered audiences an insight into the creation and development of the work.
This project required bespoke video production with a cinematic touch, reflecting the poetic and thoughtful nature of the experience. It was important to us that we created a film that felt like an extension of the artwork itself. We filmed the workshops with community groups, adopting an adaptable yet stylistically consistent approach.
Alongside the film, Port of Call Media was commissioned to capture the exhibition in photography form.
The final result was a visually moving and emotive Film and Photography package that keeps the experience alive long after it was dismantled.

Supported by Arts Council England, Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Portsmouth City Council with partners Portsmouth Historic Quarter, Portsmouth Creates, Aspex Portsmouth, Sustainable Conservation Trust and Portsmouth City of Sanctuary
This project formed part of Crying Out Loud’s Solent Cultural Collaborations and Solent Stories programmes.
