We’ve spent the last few months shooting Lions, but hear us out!
Port of Call Media have been working on a series of films showing the development of this latest Wild at Art Sculpture Trail. This was a city-wide project, involving forty-five Lion Sculptures, seven Leader of the Pack sponsors and a travelling Unicorn. This was a huge undertaking!
Commissioned by Portsmouth City Council as part of the Portsmouth100 Celebrations, these videos explore the work of the artists, installation and sponsor involvement. We were excited to use these films as an opportunity to explore the creative journey, working with some of the city’s most prolific artists to find out about their influences and what goes into painting a large lion sculpture. The result opens the eyes of the public to what goes into these projects, encouraging public engagement with the art and enabling a greater understanding of the meaning of these designs.
As part of this project, we worked with the Leaders of the Pack Sponsors to explore why it’s worth supporting public arts projects for businesses and paying tribute to the city they live and work in.
Two of these films are now showing as part of the exhibition within Portsmouth City Museums and will be released online soon.
